About the IPHU

The International People’s Health University (see www.iphu.org) is a project of the International People’s Health Council and is part of the People’s Health Movement.  The IPHU

  • organizes short course opportunities for health activists from around the world but particularly from Third World countries;
  • presents a range of learning opportunities; a growing collection of resource materials; and a wider network of resource people to progressively enhance its programs;
  • sponsors research into the barriers to Health for All and strategies to support the people’s struggle for health.

The IPHU in New York will be the second IPHU in the United States; an earlier IPHU was organized during the 2007 US Social Forum.  It is being organized by PHM/USA, Social Medicine, and Doctors for Global Health.

The IPHU website offers a listing of past courses, an excellent resource library, and information on the vision, structure, and pedagogy of the IPHU.
