Mekong Art Exhibition at the Bronx Museum: August 30, 2012

Add a comment

On August 30, 2012 the Bronx Art Museum (1040 Grand Concourse) will host an exhibition on the Southeast Asian Community in the Bronx.

This summer Mekong (a recently created community organization) worked on an intergenerational art project using PhotoVoice, surveys, and interviews to capture the current state of the Southeast Asian community; including its economics, its health, and its history. The project was designed to inform Mekong’s future work. It was a way of documenting the community’s experiences; of initiating dialogue on problems, resources, and solutions; and of creating a tool for sharing stories. Community members also underwent political and skills building workshops.

We hope you can visit the exhibition on August 30th from 6 to 8 PM as the youth and elders display and present their work.  There will be refreshments and appetizers at the event. Looking forward to having all of you join us.

For more information you can contact Mekong which is located at 2431 Morris Avenue (Bronx, NY 10458), phone 347 203-1296, email: info@mekongnyc.org.
