What a great group of young people. I was wondering if by chance any of you are from Iowa. I would be pleasantly surprised if any of you are, but if so I'd love to share your story with our listeners.

Kishor,
The website of the school is http://www.elacm.sld.cu/
My suggestion would be to contact the Cuban Embassy in the Ukraine. Here is a link to their webpage: http://www.dompavlov.com/cuba.htm
Best of luck, Matt Anderson, MD

Hello,
I guess i can say i am very proud of these students because i am one graduating this year from another province. I came to cuba via another country because i believed it would be to hard to come as an american but i plan on going back to the USA to work i would love to know if any of the students have any advice or suggestions for me on how to get started

Thanks

Thomas,

Thank you for sharing your positive thoughts and experiences concerning the students of ELAM.

As students we are very excited to share our experiences and work with other students to foster an exchange and collaborate as future colleagues. I encourage you to stay in touch with ELAM students and the Salud Southwest Exchange to make this possible.

I respect the character and determination it takes to leave your families to study medicine in another country with the sole purpose of serving your community in the future. It is a selfless act that not many can do and I applaud you for it.

Last summer I learned first hand of the kind students when I was helped by a few when I was in distress last summer. I am currently going into my 2nd year of medical school in the US and would like to initiate some kind of exchange/partnership between students studying in the US and in Cuba. Please contact me at my email chief_jeffbennett@yahoo.com if this would be possible.
