Human Rights Training for Physicians and Mental Health Professionals

logoHealthRight International (formerly Doctors of the World-USA) – https://www.healthright.org/ – offers Human Rights Clinic training sessions for licensed physicians and mental health professionals interested in evaluating torture survivors. The sessions provide volunteers with an understanding of the asylum process in the United States, prepare them to evaluate the effects of torture on survivors, and address the importance of writing effective affidavits. Commentary:

HealthRight International collaborates with the Human Rights Clinic at the Montefiore Comprehensive Health Care Center.   Their evaluation protocols are quite detailed and adopt a holistic approach, evaluating both physical and psychological sequelae of  torture.  This is excellent training for individuals who work with refugees.
