Let Single Payer in: Call/write/email the White House

Legislators, and presidents, ultimately want our vote, so we should let them know our preferences.  And many Americans are not happy that single payer advocates have been left out of the critical health care reform forum this Thursday, March 5.

But putting pressure works. After receiving many calls from angry constituents who learned that no single payer advocate was among the 120 invited guests (which included lobbyists for the private insurers and Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus who has ruled single payer “off the table,” among others), Representative John Conyers, the author of the United States National Health Insurance Act HR676, finally got the call so many were waiting for!

But one among (or against?) 120 private insurance lobbyists and supporters is no fair game. This and future summits need representatives that reflect the will of the American people.

We can let President Obama know this will by joining with and signing the petitions of two progressive organizations, Health Care Now (follow this link) and Progressive Democrats of America (follow this link).

And yes, personally calling the White House (click this link), and your representatives, works too.

  1. Single payer health care in the USA
Single payer health care in the USA…..Can you hear me??

It’s the only choice to give everyone in this country equitable health care.

Get rid of the insurance companies and heal this country!

I am with you, Ruth. But we will need a lot of people in the streets. This is a multi-billion dollar industry and everybody, including the president, has stakes in it :-(
